One can make these dresses by just adding some ruffles to the bottom of a child’s t-shirt but I had enough scraps to make these dresses.
I also wanted to experiment with rolled hem feature on my new Juki serger.
I bought some scraps of this tulle from the textile museum sale last year and had the pink rib in my stash. For this dress, I drafted a pattern from a t-shirt and just added some length. It turned out a bit bigger than I expected because I used rib and not regular knit.
This one was made from a new men’s t-shirt.
For this dress, I used this pattern

I made one adjustment, doubled the shoulder strap measurement. Then sewed a continuous tape for armhole and shoulder strap.
I decided to add a ruffle detail.
The bottom of this dress started off with ruffles but then I had “issues” with the tension of my serger. So ended up cutting away the ruffles.
When it was done, I embellished it with the images.
The hat and umbrella was stenciled in pink first and then outlined with the green and silver.
