Getting Creative with an old T-Shirt

As  one matures as an artist over time,  one learns to  “trust the process”.  There are times when I don’t.  And that’s usually when I have a lesson to learn.
This time I decided to “trust the process”.
This is what happened.

From this…………………..to this.

My husband’s under shirt was really worn.  The rib at the neckline was torn and there was a hole under one arm

Since it was a really long T-Shirt, I cut away the hem and replaced the worn rib at the neck.

There was enough left to add the same detail to the sleeves.

Then I reshaped the dress and made it an A-line T-Shirt dress.  Also cut away the sleeves and repositioned them.  This got rid of the hole.

Many of us who sew generally have a stash of odd buttons.

I used different buttons around the neckline and sleeves using a fairly thick dark blue thread.

It looked really good but the T-Shirt had some stains I wanted to mask.

So I used the half a packet of royal blue dye I had left in my dye stash, and dyed it in a crock pot.

I like the way the buttons got dyed.
